Frank Bruno"s inability to do silent contracts was of detriment to his career in the 1980s i beleive.....while others like Witherspoon,Tubbs,Bey,Page,Smith and Broad understood a fellow needed to slow down and clinch to go the 15 and settle it like men over the distance...Frank would push it at a workrate other fellows found annoying...wheras others had silent agreements to rest in clinches and hold each other like they were each others woman this limey upstart insisted on frenzied rabbit punches in the clinches ....forcing fast referee breaks on top of the lack of resting space...quite seriously i beleive if he hadnt pushed it so hard with bonecrusher in the 9th and took his rests didnt go at the other guy so hard ....smith probly would have settled for a points loss....its hard to describe...but frank wanting to lay them out or knock them out so much caused them to defend themselves harder.....the witherspoon fight was similar

Joe Louis' many wartime exhibitions. Unfortunately, some of his opponents didn't accept the silent agreement and preferred to be scraped off the canvas after a 10 count.
