I don't think it is possible to be featherfisted and become an ATG. However, if we are discussing the lightest hitting ATGs then I will second Duodenum's list.
Greb could supposedly hit hard but he broke his arm a few times and used volume of punches to win after that (to prevent further injury) rather than velocity/power...or so ive heard.
I'd say not. But then nor was Pep. Greb wasn't a HARD hitter, he was a volume puncher and was hurtful because of his speed and unexpected angles of attack. He rarely knocked anyone out though. Well, his KO % is about 17% I think. Pep's stoppage % is actually higher.
Willie Pep fought twice as many fights as Greb did, of course he would have a higher knockout percentage but it's not by much. Nobody has said Willie was featherfisted, I just think he might have been the greatest fighter ever who didn't really possess any serious pop. Apparently Pep scored 65 knockouts in well over 200 bouts, whereas Greb scored 48 in just over a 100.
I think Willie Pep scored 5 KOs in his 10 championship fight wins. For a guy who boxed strictly in the purest sense, he was knocking a lot of good and durable fighters out. I'm not sure why he's getting so may votes here. Again, even Greb's more worthy of being called "feather-fisted" and I wouldn't go that far. Or Billy Conn. Both ATGs, surely. Pep hit pretty hard. Max Rosenbloom was possibly truly featherfisted, but he was known for not really making a "fist" when he hit you anyway.
I dont know where to start with that statement. Firstly, Pep had LESS fights than Greb. Secondly, do you know how percentage works ? Well, the thread is called " Best Featherfisted ATG? " and some have said Willie Pep. You've got your facts wrong. Greb had about 300 recorded fights. 299 according to boxrec.
