    Yes, and using Hearns’ right as one example, feints are obviously that much more effective when they involve a particularly potent and well demonstrated punch type that opponents are leery of before first bell or become quickly leery of as a fight progresses.

    And when you have a punch type, the quality of say, Liston’s jab, hurtful and damaging per single shot let alone overall, simple jab feints can be used to optimal advantage when the boxer in question has sufficient IQ to work the feint in as and when appropriate and then take advantage of the of “positioned” opponent.

    Liston could feint a jab and then turn it into a hook to catch the shifting target. He could also feint the jab to set up the opponent for his right hand.

    Carlos Monzon is a similar example in regards to having a high quality jab, possession of the necessary ring IQ for multi purposed application of the jab - including the jab feint.
