Actually Oscar is from East LA (Montebello close enough).

Dang LA CAlifa i didnt know you were so close your next door to me. I live in West Covina but from Rosemead. You forgot to claim Steven Luevano and Mike Anchondo to other former champs from your town.

Oh yeah, forgot those two. Also Paul Banke is from Azusa. Is Carlos Molina related to John John Molina? Oh , and I think Jaime Ocegeata was from Rosemead, or maybe Pico. Used to fight on Prime Ticket. From the Forum. & there was a really bright prospect from Azusa. Johnny Chavez. but tradgically suffered detatched retina's in both eyes & had to retire.

Even a specific borough wouldn't really narrow it down. :yep

They call NYC the "mecca of basketball" (it isn't) - but it really is the historical mecca of boxing...or at least one of 'em.

Los Angeles,Detroit,Philly are also right there. As far as other cities having numerous great fighters. Although Madison Square Garden is hard to beat as a mecca boxing venue.

Ditto Pittsburgh. Spadafora gave a brief glimmer of hope but fizzled fast.

Chicago is my birthplace and the city that made me. Our best has been:
    Oliver McCall.

Guadalajara, Mexico, has been my hometown for 28 years and where my parents are from. The greatest fighter to come from our tough streets has been:
    José Becerra.

Chicago can claim Ernie Terrell and Andrew Golota, as well as several other excellent fighters who were made there.

Alejandro "La Cobrita" González came from just around the corner from my house at Calle San Pablo, Colonia San Isidro, in Guadalajara, and this is the same gym and area my brother and I "learned the ropes".

Guadalajara can also claim Efrén "Alacrán" Torres, though he was born in Michoacán.

    And go Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez!
