pretty much. but to keep the discussion going... do you view him as the greatest because you favor him over all the heavyweights though? or because he has a spectacular resume? (one doesn't automatically follow the other after all) if it's the former then no further explanation needed, but if it's the latter, then arguably, the best ever H2H is someone who could beat ali but isn't considered the greatest HW because of a lacking resume...
H2H not P2P? Whats the reasoning behind that? Then Ali wins this thread, because its simply just ranking heavyweights H2H.
Thats who I might go with aswell if this is a mythical "boxer fights ever other boxer ever to live" situation. Maybe a more questionable chin than some of the other big name HW's but in the (very) long run I think size would tell, espeically if we consider fighting guys from lower weightclasses aswell.
Excluding Weight - I take a Prime Roy Jones Jr. as well. Speed - Elusive - Power - with damn good skills - and a killer instinct. We can talk about his chin now - but no one ever mentioned anything about his chin back then. Even against the better HW's of all time - they would have to catch him - to hit him - and it wasn't that easy - when he's moving and firing back.
I like the Lion, but I quite frankly do not know how he'd be able to cope with Ali, who fought taller and bigger men to perfection. With speed advantage, I think he'd confuse Lewis and frustrate him.
That's so '90s of you. How do you see Roy doing against a 21 year old Floyd Patterson who captured the title against Archie Moore? How do you see Roy doing against Ezzard Charles?
I have Lewis Ali pritty much a 50/50 fight. I think Lewis does better against the other top HWs than Ali does so i sometimes give Lewis the H2H edge. Styles make fights and this would be brilliant.
How do you figure? Holyfield was probably the most inconsistent top10 of all times, he'd struggle badly against the likes of Alex Stewart.
