    Basically a HW tournament:

    Ali
    Louis
    Foreman
    Holmes
    Marciano
    Frazier
    Lewis
    Liston
    Tyson
    V.Klitschko

IMO if everyone fought everyone atleast once each:

Ali > 8 of them, I'd favour Tyson over him and Frazier has a good chance. Wouldn't count out Lewis either due to his sheer size and boxing skill to go with it.

Foreman > 6 of them. Only ones Id favour over him are Ali, Holmes and Lewis.

Tyson > 8 of them. I'd favour Foreman over him, stylistically he's walking into a trap. H2H I think he beats Ali who had a lot of trouble with Norton/Frazier, both guys Tyson's size and Tyson was a lot faster, hit harder and more skilled. Lewis, Klit would have a good chance though.

Lewis > 7 of them. Id favour Ali and Tyson. I think he controls the rest with his size.

Those would be my top 4. Louis is a good technical fighter but I dont think he matches up that well with these guys. Ali beats him with speed, and given that max khtfo, all the other guys are well capable of doing it too. I think he beats Marciano and Holmes though.

The reasoning? No real reason, I was just curious. Seemed like something to worthy of a discussion.

I mean sure, most people rank Ali as the greatest HW ever, but their rankings are based primarily on resume and not just a H2H analysis. I think there are a number of posters out here who think Ali (even a prime Ali) by other great HW fighters (but have weaker resumes overall), so I think it's still a worthwhile discussion.

Some would favor Tyson or Frazier over him and he certainly isn't unbeatable. So if HW fighters who could beat a prime Ali do exist, it's certainly debatable that those that could beat Ali are in the running to be the best H2H ever (again if we were to put less emphasis on resume).

why would that be sarcasm? Whitaker is unbeatable IMO at 135-140.

Obviously it's going to be a heavyweight, I'd put my money on Ali and Louis.

Maybe but a Peak Roy Jones would kill him 10 out of 10 times.

I don't think its necessarily going to be the biggest guy out there. I think someone with good mobility, handspeed and power...and decent size will take it.

Fast hands, mobile, powerful, good chin:
    Muhammad Ali
    Tommy Hearns
    Joe Louis
    Archie Moore
    Mike Tyson
    Vitali Klitschko

    Big, Strong, Tough as Nails:
    George Foreman
    Andrew Golota
    Jack Dempsey

    Personal favorites to win:

Muhammad Ali - Speed, power, chin. Great jab & handspeed. KO power.

Joe Louis - Ring IQ, adaptability, technique, KO power.

Archie Moore - Experience, chin, badassery.

Vitali Klitschko - Akward style, powerful, great defense.

What about Gene Tunney folks? I mean, a swat from most heavies automatically ko's anyone below and including 140- and he fought everyone in an age where men were just cut from a better cloth than they are today...

Very well. Excellent combinations and power as well as handspeed. Good boxing skills and fundamentals in the vein of a HW Arguello, and the most dominant fighter ever in his division, as well as being very proven against a variety of styles. Favor him strongly over anyone except Ali, which I think is a 50-50 fight.

Best fighter head to head? Probably: Cain Velasquez. Best boxer head to head: Lennox Lewis.
