He beat a great WW imo

Off topic but Forrest beats most WWs including Floyd Mayweather for me

Yeah, Forrest is the best he could beat, but that's because rhythm building, open to wide shots 'Viper' would not beat most welterweights ever, as PP is ridiculously stating. I've always banged the drum for Forrest but he was not infallible. I'll take McLarnin to beat him, stylistically speaking ;)

However, Forrest would be a horrible matchup for Floyd. Nice shout PP :good

Don´t you think Mayorga would have an okay chance against a guy like Cuevas ?......not a great fighter though, but would be interesting.

Mayorga had the better chin but Cuevas hit harder punch for punch. Mayorga would get broken up down the stretch IMO.

I guess he could Ho Joo, but that's a big ask for anyone.

Anyone with a shaky chin could get taken out by Mayorga.

I think he beat the best one he could beat. And I still don't want to process this occurrence, frankly.

Well, I doubt it, of course, but I'll at least say I don't see a welterweight in the past five years that I'd directly favour over him, Pacweather, Cotto, Marg and Williams included.

Actually, I'll take Mayorga to beat Terry Norris up. Although I actually like Forrest>Norris for quality and actual ability.

I still think Forrest is the best that Mayorga could beat. He might outwork Nino on his worst day (and he had a few) but PP would (wrongly, IMO) dispute Benvenuti's superiority to Forrest I'm sure.

That would be the ugliest fight ever IMO.

Cuevas is a good match up, I'd give Mayorga even odds in. Margarito and Cotto against Prime Mayorga are good fights

    He would though :D

I like the use of the word stylistically, McLarnin would be too small for the job, he wasn't as intense as Mayorga either

Stylistically Forrest has a field day with back foot fighters. He'd have beat DeLaHoya and Tito if he got those fights. Tito isn't a back foot fighter but Forrest could box rings around him

Depends how adaptable they are. I wouldn't say guys that can't match Forrest's range when they need to are 'most' welterweights.

There are also lots of guys that can exploit Forrest's flaws themselves. Look how ragged he got when he couldn't establish his game, the second Mosley fight for example and, a later one, Quartey.

When hooks were chucked at him Vernon seemed to step straight back and do nothing to stop shots passing straight past his guard.

You won't take McLarnin? Well you'll take Basilio. He'd trounce Forrest.

Cuevas has a glass chin and punches wide himself, and is slower. Mayorga by KO
