Best fighter Mayorga would be able to beat?

Honestly, anyone.

With that chin-power combo he can trade with anyone and land a hail mary shot.

I wouldn't favour him over everyone but I certainly wouldn't be surprised by him beating anyone.

 

Uglier than Mayorga v Spinks was?

 

I'd like to see if he could overpower Mark Breland. I really don't think a ton of Chavez at welter and that's another guy Mayorga might be able to outslug. Colin Jones would make for a good slugfest too.

He has his chance with anybody.

Iron jaw, big power, relentless and willing.

If you were fragile, and couldn't hit hard enough to stop him coming in, he'd probably wreck you.

 

I'd add can't box very well to that last sentence magna.

as shown with his trouble against Spinks i think there are likely a large number of fighters who aren't particularly strong jawed or hard hitting that could beat him by varying degrees.

I think with a fighter like Mayorga it's more about being able to stay relaxed and adapt under unorthodox pressure that is key rather than being able to hurt him.I've no doubt Forrest could have beaten him if he'd been able to settle down, but the style just befuddled and unsettled him.

 

the more i saw of mayorga the more you can tell he knows what he is doing. he isnt pretty in hsi approach but he knows what punch to throw at what time. hurt oscar with that walking right uppercut, downed tito, outhustled mosley.

he has a lot more to him than would normally be the case for the straight up brawler.

 

He reached his peak by catching Forrest. Probably wouldn't beat anyone better than that caliber of a fighter, and might lose against several who were worse.

 

Well Roldan couldn't finish Tommy, and Barkley was bigger than Mayorga.
