Ok I will start...i never fought MMA, have never entered a grappling contest (i only trained it a bit..im not good enough to bother). As far as standup, ive done good old western Am boxing, but never fought anyone at a elite level.Best guys I ever sparred with in boxing, Weldon Branche (I had a fair size advantage which helped, but back then i was green and it was still only 20 pounds on him). Tommy Wilt (usually got whipped..but had some good sessions) and Andres Taylor (he is a current cruiserweight pro...i sparred him more recently, 5 years ago) I actually did pretty well against im considering the fact that he more or less had a size advantage on me than (he was about 220 than, i was about 200).As for rolling...ehhhh never rolled with anyone great.... we have Carlton Haselirig in our gym..who is older now..but ive never done any grappling with him..from what i hear he is mean when grappling and tends to like to inflict pain even on newbees...best guy i have rolled is a pro mma fighter Eli Garshnick..he is also the best MMA fighter i sparred with. Stand up sparring i did pretty good....got the better of it many times...rolling its just him showing me stuff letting me try my best and handling it all.
Did some light sparring with Reza Madadi when he came to town i did good in the standup but when things hit the ground i got subbed every damn time almost got and armtri but then he swept me and subbed me yet again. Tho i had 10kg on him at the time and 10-13 cm on him as well
Matt Hamill for the Tito fight. Seriously strong guy, the way that Jones ragdolled him still amazes me. Those guys cut some serious weight too, it was like 5 weeks out from the fight and he was weighing in the 230's and solid.
best boxer i ever sparred with is the former European title challenger John Miceli the baddest wrestler i fought is a friend of mine Dave Kerkhofs he never had a fight and just followed lessons for 3 years i challenged him for a fight and he just played with me and took me down at will despite being much shorter
Mike McDonald (K-1) John Alessio (UFC) Gabe VArga (K-1 recent) Stan Peterec (Black belt named him 4th toughest guy alive) bunch of others cant remember
Royce Gracie - seminar (doesn't really count) Park Jun-Young - full GI BJJ, he was freakishly good. It was embarrassing. The following were competitive. Kim Dong hyun - hard sparing - UFC fighter Bae Myung Ho - hard sparing - Legend FC champion. Kyung Ho Kong - we fought but I'm like twice his size - UFC fighter.
Best Spar's as follows: Boxing - Nick Quigley Muay Thai - Pete Davis JJ - Lee Dixon / Jason Tan MMA - Mark Glover
BJJ = Chico Mendes / Lucas leite MMA = Sam Mensah / Rob The Caveman Krecicki / Bradley Scott / Che Mills Lynchburg
I had a private lesson with Relson, but we didn't roll. Who was the small black belt Phil brought in for a couple seminars? Tito, or Tita, something? I rolled with that guy, so I guess that would be the best person I ever grappled.
