    Michael Nunn deserves a mention.

He's looked other-worldly many times. Phenomenal boxer.

When I see the the title, Best fighter you've seen on film, I feel like it implies that we're being asked about the best fighter we ever saw after the fact, not live on tv or in person. Maybe I'm interpreting it wrong.

Anyways, I'm seeing names like Roberto Duran, Michael Nunn, Roy Jones, Sugar Ray Leonard, and I'm thinking, "I think the OP was asking about old-time fighters." Then I realized that, geez, I'm in my fifties and there's probably several posters here who never saw these guys during their fighting days because they're too young. They are old-time fighters to them. And that's a good thing. I'm so glad young(er) people are getting into the history of the sport.

RJJ. There were more elegant fighters, but he just had those freakish gifts.

I agree. I has try to do his style on the heavy bag and it doesn’t feel right. On one hand, dancing around the bag and throwing a few punches in flow is easy enough...but on the other hand it does seem safe to glide effortlessly. It seems like one should be doing a lot of head movement, constant slipping and ducking etc.

One more thought...I believe Robinson is the Michael Jordan of Boxing...does that make Leonard the Kobe. For my money Leonard is greatest than Kobe but Leonard’s style was no at all like Robinson’s. In comparison Kobe was almost an exact replica of Jordan.

I wonder why don’t more fighter completely mimic Robinson..or Duran etc. Can you imagine Hearns employing Robinson’s style...
