Not sure about that. If we're being guided by end-to-end achievements for the decade then going 22-0, becoming undisputed Cruiserweight Champion, and finishing the decade as the number 1 Heavyweight contender isn't bad going - and Holyfield was only two fights away from becoming Heavyweight Champ of the World I love Duran and he deserves a mention, for sure, but his best days were in the '70s, despite him pulling out some great performances in the '80s.
Can't see putting Holyfield over Tyson. Both unified a division but HW much more significant than CW. And Tyson annilliated Spinks, one of the top fighters of the 80s. And by the end of 89 Holyfields list of HW victims was underwhelming. A shot Tillis and Thomas. A comebacking but past prime Dokes and a previously unknown Stewart. And Dokes and Stewart gave him hell.
I've not said Holyfield should be above Tyson. I've suggested that he deserves to be rated more highly for the decade than Duran.
