    No. He did stake a claim to it, but Billy Papke was the primary claimant by virtue of having been the last boxer to dethrone Ketchel in the ring. Mike is not considered to have ever been a linear MW champion.

    I actually thought James Shuler could have been very good. Had he lived he might have recovered from the Hearns knockout and gone on to be a champion.

    I felt the same way about Andre Prophet. The one fight I saw him in he looked awesome. Looked like a Sandy Saddler, hit like Bob Foster.

    Young Griffo. Recognised as one of the elite of his era...never officially recognised as a world champ... and certainly dished out plenty to many respected champions
