Obviously Jake LaMotta had enough hate in him to be a mean guy. Tyson, of course. Duran, I could see how you'd pick him. But I always got the idea that his was just passion, and without it he'd be lost. Somebody before mentioned Zivic, and though his anything goes style makes him an easy pick, for him it was natural, and truthfully from what I know of him as a guy, he was not mean. Louis, not at all, from the way I gauge him. Marciano and Graziano, the same, not at all, but this is actually a funny subject 'cause first you'd have to define 'mean'.

If you'd define it as a guy that would take not an ounce of ****, then most would qualify. If you're talking about somebody who you could easily see as the instigator, someone capable of giving a civilian an unprovoked good ass whoopin' that might be closer. But I'll tell ya, I have a feeling that even for the nicest of these guys, a crack on the mouth is no big thing. How could it be? It's their stock and trade, as natural as a hooker might see casual sex.

Sonny Liston and young George Foreman were the meanest fighters.

Haglers average sized, but he is very strong, and knows how to fight on an international level, do you really think you'd get the chance to take him down?

hagler was a powerfull 5,10 160 ,if he was not training,if he was a natural guy he would prob, be more like 185 not real tiny for a man that can punch hard as he could

Considering he is the best 160 pound boxer ever obviously he would kill me if I stood and traded with him. I don't want to sound cocky or anything but I'm a very good HS wrestler and weigh 235 pounds, I could definently tackle him to the ground in a crowded bar.

Keep in mind in street fights the ring tactics/smarts/skills that make a fighter so great are useless. You don't have gloves to cover up and you're allowed to take them out at the legs :good

Against a man bigger and strong like Liston, I would be beat up bad because I wouldn't be able to use my wrestling background on him and chances are wouldnt be able to lift him off the ground before he lands a shot that decapitates me. Liston was a bad man that beat up more than a few tough guys.

Stanely Ketchel, who according to one heavyweight who fought, said something along the lines of "he's a fearsome brawler", though I am sure he was described a lot harsher by his opponents. Probably the meanest fighter who ever lived. He would make believe that his opponents would insult his mother, whom he revered, and take that anger out on them.

Jack Dempsey, who swarmed his opponents and showed no mercy. His fight with Jess Willard is proof of that.

Roberto Duran: After knocking out (and nearly killing) Ray Lampkin, he told the press "Next time, I put him in the morgue". One of MANY quotes of the sort from Manos De Piedra.

Ricardo Mayorga, who said that he would send Cory Spinks "to be with his mother".

Sonny Liston. His stare would glaze fighters' eyes and it's been said that Ali was genuinely afraid of the man. ****, he's been dead for 37 years and I still am!

Dempsey,Ketchel,Mickey Walker,Jack Johnson,Joe Louis(in the Ring) Marciano,Lamotta, Duran,Ezzard Charles, Max Baer,SRL,SSR,Graziano,Tyson,Lewis...........Baer, & CHarles& Robinson killed men in the ring because of there killer instinct, Marciano crippled Vingo....and if anyone thinks SRL had no killer watch his finish vs Dave Green,Hearns 1, Andy Price...and watch the No Mas fight Ray Leonard kept punching...Johnson showed no mercy to the 36 year old Jeffries who had to come back with no tuneup and lose 100lbs before the fight...Johnson showed no mercy

Why Johnson? He was a very smart guy and might have laughed it off, he seems more down to earth than many other fighters.

I'm far from an expert on him though, maybe he was meaner than I think out of the ring.

    He was a total animal.

He was generous and fan friendly but if you crossed him in a small way you were beaten to a bloody mess.

The Stanley Ketchel fight, The pair were allegedly friends out of the ring and although Ketchel was a killer fighter he was only world middleweight champ.. They kinda arranged the fight to be like a sparring match with no risks and everyone got paid and Stan towed the line.. BUT in the fight there were a few heated exchanges and the disaster !! Ketchel got brave and with a wicked overhand right he dropped Johnson who was highly embarrased as he rose quick.. Immediately Johnson threw cluster of shots that rendered Ketched unconcious and without a bunch of front teeth.. as Johnson walked away from Stanley he is seen brushing a row of teeth from his glove (they were completely embedded in the leather.. Never cross Mister Johnson..
