"Someone's 0 has got to go!"

What are some fights involving 2 previously undefeated fighters that ends up becoming a war? There's been many over the years with some very notable ones in boxing history. FOTC (Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier 1) is perhaps the best example of a terrific fight where both men were unbeaten at the time.

Depends on how you define a good fight. I was under the impression that it had to be competitive

Pre fight promotional hyperbole is one thing. But that century's now over, and of all the bouts which were given that label in advance, only one stands out after the fact, and nothing supplanted it after February 8, 1971. Boxing is now a tiny niche interest, and the winner of the FOTC ultimately didn't know or care who the current HW Champion or "champions" were. It's now been over half a century. There's no potential for the FOTC to ever be remotely matched. Joe Frazier went to his grave safe and secure in that eternal realization.

Billy Conn famously proclaimed that when a fighter's undefeated, there's something wrong. The FOTC was an exception which proved his rule. (Rocky Marciano, the first Queensberry Title challenger with an unblemished record, was the other, somebody who had never even been knocked down. Today, facts like this have no meaning or value. Marciano, Ali and Frazier were the first three HW Champions with unblemished records, Foreman being the fourth, Holmes the fifth.)

This thread's really about second through tenth placings, or however far one wants to count. But there can only ever be one FOTC which can never be supplanted.

Best matchup or best actual match (because those are two different things)

Best matchup was: Roy vs. Toney
Best actual match was: Bowe vs. Holyfield I

    IMO...........
