Anyone remember Brandon Rios vs Mike Alvarado 1? That was quite a doozy of a slugfest.

Underrated trilogy indeed! Although I would say that the first 2 fights were great while the third fight was very anti-climactic and a pretty a disappointing ending to a great rivalry.

Nicely written . I'm sure you're of age to remember
    when a heavyweight championship fight
    literrally stopped the world.

Just watched Bruce Curry vs Wilfred Benitez 1 that's one to add to the list of 2 undefeated fighters having a great fight.

David Tua (27-0) vs Ike Ibeabuchi (16-0) produced a classic HW slugfest. Great fight that one was.

Nunn vs Toney was such a great match. Toney was a live dog all through the fight which gets forgotten. Nunn was outboxing him, but only just.

Believe it or not i actually had the fight even at the time of the stoppage, i've always thought Nunn's dominance was a myth it was a very competitive fight.

    James Toney vs Michael Nunn

    1 Toney
    2 Nunn
    3 Nunn
    4 Nunn
    5 Nunn
    6 Toney
    7 Nunn
    8 Toney
    9 Toney
    10 Toney
    11 Toney wins by TKO

    95-95 even

So @Showstopper97 wanted me to do a scorecard for Nunn vs Toney and here it is. I've always thought this was a very overrated fight regarding how dominant Nunn was. Despite Toney losing quite alot of the rounds in the 1st half of the fight, for me he was always competitive in the fight. Nunn would overwhelm Toney at times with his speed and activity, and Nunn's defence also gave Toney a few problems. But at no point in the fight was Toney in trouble.

The fight turned around in the 8th round, as Toney was starting to land the right hand more effectively rocking Nunn a few times with it. The KO/TKO in the 11th round for me was not surprising, you could see Nunn was starting to fade and Toney was starting to hurt him. A late stoppage for me always looked like it could happen, ok maybe you might not of expected an amazing one punch from Toney to basically KO Nunn, but as i said earlier for me a late stoppage always looked like a possibility.

Overall this was a very enjoyable fight with alot of great skills on display from both men, i felt like Nunn did stay on the inside a bit too long with Toney at times, allowing him too many free shots. But it was a very good display from Nunn regarding his speed and combinations for the first 7 rounds or so, but Toney's extra toughness and harder punches down the stretch were the difference.

I had it 6-4 for Nunn after the 10th but can easily 5-5. I rescored this fight multiple times trying to see the 8-2s and 7-3s people believe this fight to be. I just can't see it. I even tried viewing it frame by frame. Glad that you agree.
