    Perhaps one of the most underrated boxing country rivalries is between Mexico and Japan. When you have two countries known for almost always producing great fights you're more than likely going to see an exciting match up between them. What are some of the best Mexico vs Japan showdowns that you've seen?

    Nestor Garza vs Kozo Ishii is the first to come to mind. Absolute brutal fight that I personally think was worthy of being FOTY 1999 over Tapia vs Ayala 1.

    Clemente Sanchez- Kuniaki Shibata

    Not a classic fight but a great ko and terrific upset (1972) and revenge for Mexico.

    Shibata had travelled to Mexico to crush the great Vicente Saldivar in front of his adoring fans.

    He then retained his crown by blowing away Mexican Champ Raul Cruz in a round.

    Clemente wiped those defeats away by smashing Shibata in his hometown of Tokyo.

    100%! Garza-Ishii was a much better fight than Tapia-Ayala 1. Should have been FOTY for sure.

    Joichiro Tatsuyoshi had some good fights with both Victor Rabanales and Daniel Zaragoza. Only wish there was video available of Tatsuyoshi vs Rabanales 2 where Tatsuyoshi avenges his loss.

    Much appreciated! What an absolute insane punch fest from Rabanales and Tatsuyoshi. These two fought so well in the rematch with Tatsuyoshi just barely nicking it this time without getting stopped. Very underrated rivalry.
