Best fights between two southpaws

Two come to mind:
- Paul Williams vs Sergio Martinez I was awesome. Both were at the peak of their abilities - and both being very competitive, it made for a very intense 12 rounds, with knock-downs on each side to add some drama.

-I loved Shinsuke Yamanaka vs Anselmo Moreno II as well. Moreno felt He was robbed in the first fight (I agree with him, but that's another story), which was more technical - and He came out chasing the knock-out against big puncher in a rematch. He nearly got it, but came up second best at the end.

 

Not many i can think of but i do think it will change soon.

Can you imagine Itauma vs Opetaia?

There are a lot of left handers emerging from Eastern Europe and Central Asia so i do think southpaw vs southpaw fights will become a lot more common.

 

Bazooka Limon vs Navaratte was a fun fight.

Alberto Jimenez vs Mark Johnson(interesting case because Jimenez fully became a southpaw here despite being orthodox fighter his entire career)

 

Usyk-Glowacki was a solid fight. Not great but some interesting moments.

Bazooka Limon vs Rolando Navarrete 1
Frank Fletcher vs Clint Jackson
Josh taylor vs Regis Prograis
Zab Judah vs Cory Spinks 1

 

Interesting that no fight really stands out.

I remember Fury fought Usyk at southpaw for a few rounds in both fights didn't he? Not really the same though.

 

not for a few rounds. Just for a few moments in some rounds. If he had fought entire rounds as a southpaw vs Usyk, i would count it. But he only did it for like half a minute a few times.

 

Not the greatest fight but the ending of Reggie Johnson vs William Guthrie was incredible. Totally unexpected.

 

Yep you're right. I'd say Fury struggled a lot when he fought in the southpaw stance against Usyk.

maybe not the "best," but the Maske-Rocchigiani fights were both entertaining IMO.

the Tarver-Harding fights weren't too bad either. neither was Rocchigiani-Nunn IMO.

 

Marvin Hagler-Alan Minter was fun, Minter even landing a solid left cross in the 2nd round before Marvin took complete control and turning it into a rout in the 3rd.

The fight is unfortunately remembered for the racist overtones and riot at the end but was pretty entertaining while it lasted and crowned a future great.
