The 10s were a particularly interesting point in boxing history, as the sport was on a rapid evolution and would see many great fighters throughout the era. Which fights do you think best displays the era?
Ad Wolgast-Owen Moran, Battling Nelson-Jimmy Britt, Battling Nelson-Owen Moran, Mike Gibbons-Packey McFarland, Mike Gibbons-Mike O'Dowd, Joe Gans-Kid Herman, Mike O'Dowd-Al McCoy (short clip), Dempsey-Willard, Langford-Jeanette.
There was so many. I will say just one, cause francly there's so, so many. Benny Leonard vs Willie Richie, April 28th, 1919 in Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A. Peace
It has been on youtube in the past. I see that Kurt Noltimier has it listed on p. 21 of his master list of fights so you can probably order it from him. The list can be accessed at https://www.ringwise.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/unpublished-fights7.pdf Other fights I didn't remember earlier are Langford-Bill Lang, Willie Ritchie-Joe Rivers, Jim Driscoll-Spike Robson, Jimmy Wilde-Joe Symonds. There's a 9-minute version of the last fight on youtube in which the almost unbelievable skill of Wilde is on full display.
Wow thanks! I've always wanted to find films from the 10s and 20s cuz they're so rare, any other fight recommendations to purchase?
