The only ones that come to mind for me involve George Chuvalo (Yvon Durelle, Ernie Terrell, Jimmy Ellis, and of course, the Muhammad Ali fights). Oh, of course, the Moore-Durelle fights, and Durelle vs. Mike Holt. I guess Moore-Durelle I is probably the greatest fight in Canada. Any others?

Duran v Leonard says hi, William.

I'd have thought Matthew Hilton would have been in a couple of barnburners as well. And his brother, Davey. Probably against each other when they used to share a bed with three other brothers in the trailer van.

They were, yes. Have a read up on them if you get a minute. Fascinating family. Dad a famous fighter who took his young sons to bars to watch him beat people up. Matthew an alcoholic, Stewart died aged 17 in a car crash. Davey in prison for molesting his two young daughters.

But apparently Alex was the black sheep of the family!

1982 Jimmy Gradson TKO10 Edie Melo - Pier 6 brawl at the CNE Coliseum. Both guys hated each other*
1985 Wille Edwards TKO9 Donny Lalonde NABF Light-Heavyweight Title - both men hit the canvas
1987 Matthew Hilton W15 Buster Drayton IBF Junior Middleweight Title - absolute war!
1998 Davey Hilton TKO12 Stephane Ouellet Canadian Super Middleweight Title
2000 Davey Hilton W12 Dingaan Thobela WBC Super Middleweight Title

*Post fight interview, the victor (Jimmy Gradson) announces on live tv that he doesn't care for Eddie Melo because he stabbed a friend of his! These two Toronto street boys put on a war for the ages. Check it out on YouTube.

Stewart was an exceptional amateur and considered by the family as the best boxer out of all of them. A true boxing tragedy.

Didnt Jose Napoles show his dearth of skills by widely outpointing Clyde Gray at Mabel Leaf Gardens some time in the 1970s ?

I think that's probably the best fight ever in Canada.

These bouts would be good candidates:
1901-09-23 Rube Ferns W-KO9 Frank Erne, defending the welterweight championship of the world

1901-12-18 Joe Walcott W-TKO5 Rube Ferns, winning the welterweight championship of the world

1902-03-17 Frank Erne W-KO 6 Curley Supples, defending the lightweight championship of the world

1902-05-12 Joe Gans W-KO1 Frank Erne, winning the lightweight championship of the world

1902-09-15 Tommy Ryan W-KO6 Kid Carter, defending the middleweight championship of the world

1902-10-13 Joe Gans W-KO5 Kid McPartland, defending the lightweight championship of the world
