I've already watched his fight against Toney and i'm going to watch the Thorton fight along with the Griffin fights. Any recommendations?
The best Jones ever looked was 1994-96 at supermiddle IMO, but his most complete all-round performance was probably vs Reggie Johnson.
Anything from Malinga to Brannon. I love how he handles himself in the Sosa fight, although the stoppage was pretty dumb.
As mentioned, against Richard Hall, he looked amazing. I always like watching the Ruiz fight, Roy showed his usual skills plus a solid Jab and left hook to the body, his head movement in that fight, is brilliant. The right hand that he landed on Reggie Johnson was insane, fastest shot I've ever seen. And I'll confess, I'm a 90's kid so to me this guy was Superman.
Watch the Hall fight. Roy just takes the **** out of Hall and beats him up for 11 rounds, scoring some hilarious knockdowns along the way. The stoppage especially is ridiculous, Lampley is screaming at the ref to stop the fight and Merchant says the ref should be "pistol whipped". The Percy Harris fight is basically a shorter version. Not his best display obviously, but i like the first Tarver fight. You can tell early on that he's not right and really struggling after losing the weight, yet he manages to dig deep and win the fight. Also, you have to watch his knockdown in the 3rd round against Reggie Johnson. Go to 30 seconds. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRt8LHSB7wM&feature=related[/ame]
His performance here against Thomas Tate was nothing short of sensational imo. Tate was tough and had just given Julian Jackson a real tussle and taken some of his best shots yet Roy just crushed him (Tate was never stopped before or after this). It's not just the speed or power, it's his accuracy, punch variety, angles and his defense that impressed me as well. The KO was great too. A subtle litte feint before a devastating left hook. Just beautiful. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXSxvqO7jXM&feature=player_detailpage[/ame]
Camacho's combo at the 0:34 mark against Loy was faster than Roy's combo on Johnson: [yt]c017jxWCBAE[/yt]
