When you have your man hurt, can you end it? rather than hoping on that equaliser to end it in one. A good example is leonard on thomas hearns. although leonard had the better chin, he also showed better finishing abilities. he was dropped many times, got up, outboxed, shrugged himself off, and finished it in the 14th. So im not looking for the best 1 punch ko artists. just the best finishers for the punch they were given.
I don't think that's the kind of finisher he's talking about. It sounds like he wants come from behind types.
yeh this, its doesnt need to be a devasting puncher like louis. even if the best finishers are the best punchers.
1- Joe Louis 2- Rocky Graziano 3- Jack Dempsey 4- Rocky Marciano 5- Roberto Duran 6- Sam Langford 7- Stanley Ketchel 8- Mike Tyson 9- Sonny Liston 10- George Foreman
Monzon deserves a mention. He was so good at increasing the pressure and putting his opponents into smaller and smaller rooms.
Kov mate, Hearns never dropped Leonard once in their first fight!! It was their second fight where SRL got dropped (twice, if I recall correctly) Julio Cesar Chavez (Snr of course) was a brutally efficient finisher..As was Duran, Ray Leonard and Hagler. All four had sensational come-from-behind/looked to be in real trouble wins over genuine world class opponents. I guess the fact that all four are ATG's does suggest that such a quality is essential as almost all great fighters will find themselves in bother on more than one occasion, and the fact they were able to win does speak to their ability to finish a fight. Of the current generation, Carl Froch has demonstrated ruthless finishing qualities on more than one occasion.
joe louis, by far. Tommy dropped ray twice in there 1989 fight. TOMMY, WAS IN DIRE TROUBLE IN THE 5TH & 12 ROUNDS IF MY MINDS NOT PLAYING TRICKS WITH ME!!
