Def like Mcall Ruiz and Mercer to Be there. I’ll add them later. Hide would be to weak. For the same reasons I took off LaStarza I’d rather not bother. Only want the best of the best. Don’t forget to vote Layne and Baer

Time to vote for Ike and Billy conn!! Layne and Baer...well Layne was relatively solid compared to the rest of the field. The five spot wasn’t mind blowing but some solid c people to choose from.

And Baer lacked that A fighter on his resume. Lot of good B fighters but lacked that big name

Well Ike is gonna have zero shot in this...took out Godfrey for now (list won’t make it anyway and would have been a boring few days w him and Ike)

    Billy Conn
    1 Bob Pastor
    2 Lee Savold
    3 Gus Lesnevich
    4 Al Mcoy
    5 Buddy Knox
Barland just missed the list...maybe I’ll change it idk this era I’m not that strong with the knowledge with but a solid five nonetheless

Ok got rid of Ike due to his short career it made him impossible to pick a viable 5. Earnie Shavers is taking his place please vote away

    Shavers five
    1 Ken Norton
    2 Jimmy Ellis
    3 Jimmy Young
    4 joe Bugner
    5 Henry Clark
Nice top four but extremely thin after that

    Billy Conn

    1) Bob Pastor
    2) Lee Savold
    3) Al McCoy
    4) Gunnar Barlund
    5) Buddy Knox

Sticking with my heavyweight only, so did not include Lesnevich, Zale, etc.

    Earnie Shavers

    1) Ken Norton
    2) Jimmy Ellis
    3) Joe Bugner
    4) Henry Clark
    5) Howard Smith

Could not add Jimmy Young to the list. In retrospect, a terrific win, but a 7-3 prospect who had fought his first 10 rounder prior to meeting Shavers. The win did nothing to benefit Earnie or his ranking.

    Billy Conn

    1----Bob Pastor
    2----Melio Bettina
    3----Lee Savold
    4----Gus Dorazio
    5----Gunnar Barlund

others--Gus Lesnevich, Buddy Knox, Al McCoy. I put Bettina so high because he was very impressive at heavy during the war years, rising to be #1 contender, and splitting evenly a three bout series with Bivins. Lesnevich could be on the list, but didn't do anything at heavy until after the war when he beat a slipping Mauriello and aging Bettina. I wouldn't argue with anyone who puts him on, though. McCoy spent most of his career at light-heavy.

    Earnie Shavers

    1----Ken Norton
    2----Jimmy Ellis
    3----Joe Bugner
    4----Henry Clark
    5----Howard Smith

Others--Jimmy Young, Roy Williams, Vincente Rondon. Young was green, but it was troubling to leave him off. Shavers list is good. Were Young at his best when Shavers KO'd him, I think Earnie would make our top ten. w/o Young, I think he falls a trifle short. Depth is not that impressive. His wins were very decisive, though. He stopped all of his five and Young.

*on Godfrey. He is regularly ranked fairly high among the all-time heavyweights, and is often one of the highest ranked contenders, plus I believe he has been elected to the Hall of Fame. I think we should do him to see how his record stands up to scrutiny. For me, the contenders who don't cut it are often as interesting as those who do.

I was planning on putting Godfrey back despite his not being able to contend for a final slot. My problem was between him and Ike it would have been a snoozer. Surprised Layne and Baer didn’t garner much voting.’ Both had interesting wins

    Gerry Cooney

    1----Jimmy Young
    2----Ken Norton
    3----Ron Lyle
    4----Eddie Lopez
    5----Dino Dennis

    Alexander Povetkin

    1----Ruslan Chagaev
    2----Dillian Whyte
    3----Eddie Chambers
    4----Chris Byrd
    5----Hasim Rahman

That is about it for Cooney, with his big names way over the hill. Povetkin in contrast has a lot of depth.

Ok both guys were rather difficult with the placements. Cooney has far less depth but all his tops were out of prime and close in quality so I’m sure there will be disparity. Povetkin has a nice list want to see whom others place

    Cooney
    1 Lyle
    2 Norton
    3 Young
    4 John Dino Dennis
    5 Phillip Brown
Dino is an ok scalp I guess but him down the talent is shaky

    Povetkin
    1 Chris Byrd
    2 Eddie Chambers
    3 Hasim Rahman
    4 Ruslan Chagaev
    5 Dillan Whyte

love his list and is an honest contender for top ten imo just missing is Larry Donald David Price Christian Hammer. Hopefully I didn’t forget someone. Could be underscoring the Chagaev win and giving the Rahman one to much credit but being a former champ holds u up imo and he was fighting well at the time.
