If AJ and Fury get to fight, we have a clear champion, provided Fury doesn't get clipped by Whyte.

The entire active era's best wins are over a 39 year old Wlad, and 41 year old Wlad who was out of the ring 1.5 year. That should sum it up.

As for Usyk, he's a maybe, and I think will be too old when offered his chance. I have higher hopes for the up and comers who have been iced due to Covid-19.

The voting for Moorer ends tonight. Let's not jump the gun on " The Cannon " best five.

Briggs summary is really poor, just Liakhovich .. Then I could add an old Mercer and Calloway really a cruise..
Foreman bout doesn't really count, Foreman clearly won.Briggs is overrated

Stewart, Smith, and Bean are guys who also could've made the list.

    Shannon Briggs:

1 - Liakhovich. It's Briggs' only legitimate win over top 10 heavyweight

2 - A gift "win" over ancient George Foreman

3 - A "win" over ancient Ray Mercer who took a dive

4 - Marion Wilson. Yep, he was clearly better that all other opponents Briggs has defeated

    5 - Jorge Valdez

Briggs' resume is beyond AWFUL, Moorer's resume looks like Ali's one in comparison

It's safe to say that Briggs is by far the worst lineal champion.

10 posters voted. The results are below. For those interested Ring Magazine did an article on their top 50 heavyweights ( 1998 I think ) and Moorer made the cut at the tail end. 20 years later I don't think he would.

    Moorer's top 5 wins.

    1. Holyfield 50 points
    2. Schulz 39 points
    3. Botha 21 points
    4. Jirov 18 points
    5. Cooper 13 points

On to Mr. Briggs, a fighter I've meet who must have a 21" neck and 14" fists. As a puncher he would rate highly, and in terms of competition fought, up there as well. He just doesn't have many big wins.

    Briggs top 5

1 ) Liakhovich - Briggs power and ability to take punches were on display.
2 ) Foreman ( Old, his last fight ), the judging was spotty but this is an official win.
3 ) Mercer - Ray was still winning, but past it.
4 ) Valdes -Fought some big names, including Jack Johnson :)
    5 ) Ryan - An early KO.

Competition faced doesn't mean much when he lost to all decent contenders he faced. Briggs has terrible resume and his win over Foreman is a joke.

    Agreed.

Briggs would likely have been much better, in different timelines. He was in the 1990's arguably the best period of heavyweight boxing, and past his best in the 00's a time with many super heavyweights.

I don't see him succeeding in any other era to be honest.

I do, he was too big and strong and hit too hard not to be more successful in other eras. I believe Lennox Lewis said Briggs was the best puncher he faced. One of the worst champions, just saying the time he fought in was not the best for him.
