1.You don't know what Choynski weighed for his early fights. 2.Choynski was recognized by some as the first light heavyweight champion.
Choynski fought against heavyweights for his whole life. Who cares how much he weighed against Corbett? He definitely fought against heavyweight here. Yes, after many heavyweight fights. He also fought against Jeffries after that.
To interpret your answer to my earlier question, you have absolutely no idea, is that correct? We know Choynski weighed 167lbs at the age of 29, when he fought Jeffries. Since you are keen on speculation,is it reasonable to speculate/ assume that Choynski weighed significantly less than 167lbs when he fought Corbett at the age of 21? Correction to my earlier post Fitz was not 37, he was 11 days short of it ,and coming back from a 2 years absence from the ring.just as he was in their second fight.
Hart is quite impressive IMO. Johnson, Root, O'Brien, Ruhlin, Ferguson, Choynski, Ross.. I go; Johnson, Root o'Brien Ruhlin Ferguson( When sober he was a great fighter, probably beat Hart)
Johnson Root O'Brian Ruhlin Ferguson His names look good on paper, but Ruhlin was past his best and Johnson win is questionable. Still decent top wins though
Solid picks. Hart remains a mystery to me. He won some, and lost some. I do think his wins are a little underrated. Why he faded after losing to Burns remains a master to me. Was it his vision?
No it is not reasonable to assume. We don't know. Bob Fitzsimmons This content is protected lbs drew with Joe Choynski 162 lbs by PTS in round 5 of 8 This content is protected Fitz'a listed weight vs Corbett was 167 pounds years later in 1897. A full 8 pounds lighter than he was a few years ago. Just an example to show you that fighters can weigh more early in their career.
Put it this way. Hart often appears in discussions about the worst heavyweight champions. I think that we would struggle to find five good wins for most of the other men in that discussion. I think a bit better of him as a result of this exercise.
Hart's top 5 jewels in his crown seem to be a diverse lot. He defeated a top defensive guy who would go on to be a lineal champion, a very quick boxer mover, an all arounder, and for the times two big men. Hart's best five wins Johnson Root O'Brien Ruhlin Ferguson
Up next is Burns. By the time Burns became champion the filming of boxing matches became much better. As such we can get a good look at him. The back end picks aren't going to be easy. I'm going with Hart O'Brien Flynn Lang Squires I might tinker with spots 3-5.
