    I’m killing time in an airport so not really able to look up any candidates myself, will try to do so later when I can.

    But I got to thinking: what’s the best four wins in a row anyboxer has ever put together in consecutive fights (no tune-ups in between, no losses or draws in the four fights, etc.)?

    Joe Frazier beat: Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Ellis, Bob Foster and Muhammad Ali all in a row. Nearly stopped all four. (Only Ali saw the final bell.)

    I figure it will be from around the 1970s forward (especially for non-heavyweights) because before that you had a lot of non-title fights in between or easy touches in title fights to break up the string.

    Dwight Qawi beat: Mike Rossman, James Scott, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Jerry Martin, Matthew Saad Muhammad again and Eddie Davis in a row.

    Only Scott lasted the distance.

    Good stuff. Thanks for the answers. I still wanna see if I can find some more.

    EDIT: Took a quick gander at Henry Armstrong’s boxrec and found this stretch in 1938:

    Beat Barney Ross, Lou Ambers, Ceferino Garcia and Al Manfredo (who was at least good enough to challenge him for the welterweight title, 74-22-8 at the time).

    I noticed a stretch where Sandy Saddler lost three out of four ... and the one win was over Willie Pep, haha. I believe the three losses were over-the-weight, and Sandy was just a nearly unbeatable fighter at featherweight but not so much when he fought against heavier guys.

    Also found this nice little stretch of consecutive wins by Beau Jack in 1942-43:
