Training at the moment with 12oz Everlast gloves,my hands are starting to hurt a small bit,any recommendations on gloves, brand and size, was looking at 16oz Title gloves, are they meant to be good?
Everlast gloves are as good as most. Two things to consider. How well are you wrapping your hands? Are the 12oz gloves too light for the work you are doing?
Too much is made about brands. Ringside or Title $40-$50 pro bag gloves are as good as any and will last years. Problem is they make gay looking gloves nowadays. Way Gay.
I agree regarding brands. If you buy something that fits well and is preferably made from real leather - you only have to sniff them to tell which ones aren't leather - you are on the right track. Wrapping your hands correctly is just as important as the gloves though.
On what do you base that conclusion? How many different brands have you tried and what makes Fighting Brand Tri-Tech better the others?
I'd recommend 16oz Twins, TopKing or the very beautiful Boon, reasonable priced great quality all round leather gloves. You get a bonus bit of support in sparring to cos they're designed for Muay Thai they are a bit more padded and reinforced around the wrist and the back of the hand to help with the sting if kicks, other than that exactly the same. They'll last for ages to. If your knuckles are hurting try a pair of Winning NS 10s across your knuckles under your hand wraps. Again they're reasonably priced and will last for ages, useful bit of kit.
Tell us more about "Winning NS 10s across your knuckles". Is this some kind of additional padding that inserts in under the wraps?
Sorry NG-2, not NS10, typo. They're basically a strap of gel in a cotton cover that slips over your hand and covers only your knuckle area, u then wrap like normal. They're not too bulky & very light, they hold their shape well to. JJM & many others use them.
