Roy slightly beats Ray.

George I just thought was there for comic relief.

 

I have always enjoyed how SRL sounds more like a college professor than a boxer when he speaks.

 

They were all crap apart from Larry Merchant. Jim Lampley was painful. Foreman better than Jones.

 

RJJwas the best IMO, Leonard was ok but Foreman was terrible, his commentary during fights such as Hopkins/Trinidad and and ODH/Quartey was some of the worst i've heard not just in boxing but any sport.

 

Merchant was excellent, Lampley good when it started. Foreman was a clown but a lovable one. Jones was good but biased.

 

I liked Larry Merchant and Roy Jones together. Good team and some memorable back and forth.

I'll go with George Foreman.

 

He said some strange stuff during Holy-Bowe as well, but Hopkins-Trinidad is the most Bagdad Bob I've ever heard a commentator go for one fighter. From listening to him you'd almost think that Hopkins scored a dramatic, come from behind stoppage.

 

Leonard, Merchant, Tompkins, Steward.

 

I liked Merchant.

 

I liked Ray the most, but because I liked that era more. That was an exciting era and Tompkins and Merchant with Ray was just an exciting time-every fight. Maybe younger people today like the guys now.

 

Some of the best commentaries of fights I've heard were by Rocky Marciano.

 

I think Foreman was horrible. Some of the things he said he just was not thinking about.

 

Foreman was awful, Ray was a little better but I didn't really like him and I always thought Roy was a little overrated. I didn't really like him either. Lampley, Merchant and Emmanuel Stewart was the dream team IMO.

 

I didn't mind Foreman- he could be insightful, mostly he was not though. Roy was good. I liked all of them at their times.
As one post above said- Steward was probably the best with Lampley and Merchant.

Nobody beats Larry Merchant who's on the sauce...
