"Head Movement" is a funny little boxing buzzword and another product of the Tyson era. You never heard it before. After Tyson, it became common to see people in the gyms throw a series of punches on the heavy bag, then wiggle their head back and forth, a few inches in each direction. The overuse and abuse of punch mitts in the gym exacerbated the problem; people are being taught to throw long sequences of punches with their head in one place and then to move it to the left and to the right.
In reality, you never move your head because doing so puts the body off balance. The head moves with the torso, and the torso is moved by shifting the weight on your feet. So slipping punches, bobbing and weaving, and ducking, even moves like the pull counter, start at the floor. And if you punch correctly- from the floor up, shifting your weight and turning over it- your head is constantly being relocated.

 

Plenty of better smaller guys but amongst heavys I like Frazier

 

Locche has the best head mocement in boxing history. Dude was never knocked out in 137 bouts and fought some high level guys put still couldn't touch him. His head movement is so great that he doesn't need footwork to put an extra layer of defense plus that he looks like an unathletic guy. Whitaker is flexible, agile with good footwork. Mayweather just ducks a lot, shoulder roll with good footwork. Ali just have good footwork and likes to pull back so far away. Benitez is young, agile and also very flexible. Pep is jst straight footwork and runs a lot in the ring. Locche doesn't need flexibility, athleticism nor high mobility footwork. He can dodge those punches while staying flat footed

 

Wilfred Benitez at sensing punches. Ray Leonard moved his head and avoided most punches, but Wilfred sensed the punches. Starling was not a dodger, but he sensed punches and used his gloves well.

 

If it's effective, it doesn't matter if it's technically incorrect.

No one past or present is beating 1966-1967 Ali. That was the most untouchable heavyweight ever. And the crazy thing is he probably would have gotten even better if his prime wasn't cut short.

 

Louis beats him. And 90s onwards hws are too big for him
