Which heavyweight do you believe to be the best after Joshua, Wilder and Fury based off recent bouts and performances?
I would have instantly thought Povetkin or Pulev, to be fair both imo have a better resume than wilder but people get fooled by an undefeated record. Now I'm not as sure as they are both getting older. I think Whyte is in with a shout with his resume also imo a bit better than Wilders overall, for wins over Browne, chisora, parker, helenius (yes I am aware duhaupas beat helenius) though is close but think the Browne and Parker wins bump him up a bit
Whyte beats: Pulev Povetkin Ortiz Parker (achievement unlocked) So obviously it's Whyte. Real question, does Whyte beat Wilder, Joshua or Fury? I think come April everyone will be pleasantly suprised. *smirks*
Exactly. We have no reason to believe Tyson Fury is even a top 10 fighter at the moment. Anyone remember the threads here ranking David Haye as a top 3 heavyweight before his Stalingrad-type fallouts vs. Tony Bellew? I kept asking those guys "What makes you think David Haye is even top 10"? -- I got "Well just look at him! Just look at him!" for an answer. Tyson Fury may well be 80-90% of what we was vs. Wlad but we need to see proof of that before we rank him.
I would have Whyte ahead of Ortiz. Parker's stock has gone down, but I think it's fair to have Whyte ahead. Povetkin and Ortiz have shown that they still have good technique and ring IQ but their punch resistance and stamina looks to have diminished. So it's hard to rank them. Pulev should not be anywhere near the top 5, sorry not off beating Hughie Fury.
Ignoring belts i have Povetkin at number 2 behind Joshua and ahead of both current Fury and certainly ahead of Wilder.
Going with the ancient Ortiz..yes I know he's upper 40's. Doesn't SEEM to have lost a step YET and was a few punches away to finishing Wilder where luck was involved on wilders side. Povetkin had to be spot on to just keep up with Joshua who is by far much tougher to win rounds off. MOST guys that fight Joshua know they have to put on a one time performance and weve seen this already with multiple guys bc he is looked at as the biggest threat at Hw with few weaknesses that one can actually exploit. Whyte is improving but hes still around Parker level ,both guys fought their best fight yet but whyte is a unknown right now ,how good is he with each fight? I think he's closer to Povetkin....the thing with Ortiz is hes the more accurate trickier guy and rarely losses rounds. He's a dominator which is why he almost pulled off the wilder win even after being knocked down which most would have been done right there. Ortiz for me but he has a 2 year window too much mileage for anyone at 50 to be in top level fights. Whyte will emerge as the better fighter between the three bc he has a longer life shelf even in a second loss to Joshua , Whyte is the most unpredictable guy who is still going to improve beyond 2020. Ortiz vs either would be highly close if they fight in 2019 . ORTIZ.
Povetkin has the strongest resume and despite him getting on I would still favour him in a fight against of the other names.
Povetkin easy. I have Povetkin (the one who hurt AJ early on) beating both Fury and Wilder. Those hooks are deadly. If Ortiz couldn't put Wilder out of his misery, and Fury doesn't manage it on December 1st, then Povetkin WILL get the job done if they fight, 100%. Povetkin is CLEARLY 4th. After seeing him in the AJ fight, he is 2nd in my rankings at the moment, ahead of both Fury and Wilder. Best of the rest? Povetkin easily
