He might be one tough SOB but he certainly dosen't belong in a discussion of the best heavyweight chins he's done the chickendance more times than anyone I know... Chuvalo Cobb Vitali McCall Mercer Ibeabuchi Tua Marciano If Ali gets the nod then so do guys like Dempsey & Tyson
Rocky Marciano, born Rocco Francis Marchegiano, should be #1 on this list. Randall Tex Cobb, who beat Shavers which most fighters say Shavers was the hardest hitting HW they fought.
I'd say Ali. The level of competition and the punchers he fought was second to none and rarely got seriously hurt let alone dropped. Guy took the best from arguably the #1 and #2 hardest heavyweight punchers ever in Foreman and Shavers. Among the other granite heavyweight chins mentioned here i'd give an honorable mention to Oscar Bonavena.
Vitali was down against Sanders, it just didn't count. Also like to point out that Tua went down against Rahman in their second fight. It was right at the bell. My choice would be McCall, fought very heavy hitters, and has been fighting since 1985. Never once was truly hurt.
Ali, he fought some of the hardest hitting heavyweights of all time.... No ones chin has been tested like Ali's has, and he was not a big heavyweight either.
