I don't know enough about Heavyweights from prior to 1960's but from the eras i do know your lists look pretty good to me the only one i disagree with is the 1970's i'd have Jimmy Young for the 1970's. And if you want a candidate for 2010's then Luis Ortiz wouldn't be a bad name to list.
10s Langford 20s Wills 30s Schaaf 40s Bivins 50s Moore 60s Terrel 70s Young 80s Witherspoon 90s Tua 00s Byrd 10s Povetkin I edited the post and replaced Quarry with Young. I’m fine with either choice - Young has more losses in the decade but I always felt he was robbed against Ali - throw that in with 2 wins over Lyle and 1 over Foreman I think the 70s belong to him despite 9 total losses in the decade.
Middleton and Ellis were unranked. Bugner was a close SD, despite Bugner just coming out of retirement. But yeah I agree Young was very inconsistent
Man you listed Cleveland Williams for the 50s. You could’ve listed Terry ****ing Daniel’s for the 70s, and you’d still have a pass from any criticism.
He was WBA regular champion which is sort of like the number 1 contender to the wba super champion. However I thought the list was for non lineal champions? Otherwise I have to make changes as Terrel had the wba belt and I put him as my 60s contender over Quarry
The only belts that count are WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF. I don't count "regular" or interim belts. Just the main belt. So Povetkin qualifies but Terrell, Ellis, Witherspoon etc. do not.
In my eyes the regular title is lower than alphabet titles, interim titles and depending on the matchups even some regional belts. Needs to be abolished.
It's in the title. My understanding is he is asking us for our opinions of his list,of course I could be wrong.I was once before October 5th 1954.
Godfrey belongs to the 20's. I don't think Ray deserves to be over Mauriello for the 40's Williams didnt find his form until the early 60's.
Ortiz won an interim belt. Whatever you feel of interim belts it was one of the most valuable ones in said category as he beat Bryant Jennings with 1 loss to Wladdy Klitschko where Jennings had taken some rounds.
