How many are there? WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO. Didn't the IBF start up to counter curruption by the WBA & WBC. The president Bob Lee was then Indicted?! What a Joke. I wonder what ever happened to the one started by Pat O'Grady? Sean O'Grady's father, I believe it was the WBAA? Or something like that. Because Sean was stripped of the WBA Lightweight Crown. Then Andy Ganigan blasted O'Grady to win the belt!:patsch

Jerry Quarry definitely......... he was way ahead of his time ... He was extremely tough in a tough division..

Fought everyone and came close in the WBA tourney when he lost in the finale bout against Jimmy Ellis of KY..

Henry Cooper was a fine boxer, who just suffered from tender skin.

What, like when he put on a clinic against Bert Cooper?

Good point. Williams also gave Morrison a good left hooker a tough fight. But Cooper was very inconsistent throughout his career and was young at that point, and Morrison had one of the worst glass jaws in history. The fight right before he beat Cooper he was blown out by an old Mike Weaver, exposing his vulnerability.

I was a little sarcastic when I said he was dead against any left hooker obviously, but if you were a solid puncher you would get Williams out of there.

You know I don´t think guys who fought for the title but never won it should be mentioned here. They had there shot but weren´t good enough. There are loads of fighters who proved they were good enough but never had the chance to win it.
You could argue that the fighters who lost when they had the chance would be champion in another era but well I don´t think so. These fighters proved they came up short when facing the best and imo it would be the same in any era. The only chance they would have would be by a mix of the right circumstances and luck.

Quarry and Young are on my list... Chuvalo a good call...

Ibeabuchi was looking good but too many ?'s... probably deserves the nod here though.

Tua seems to have become an internet myth, good but not good enough... Ruddock just a stock challenger.

    Jerry Quarry hands down!

This guy was avoided by everyone lost to several greats on cuts and bad ring calls. Here's a link below everyone should know his story, hell it should be a movie but there would be no happy ending for this story.
