Have to admit, I really had to scratch my head to get a top ten together for this list. I think it's been a real good year for boxing, but not so much for the heavyweights. I picked Holyfield-Savarese. Kind of a kick in the ass for the youth of the division that these two old guys went out and there and tore it up, but they did and while Savarese was outgunned he kept trying. After that, Peter-McCline was shocking to begin with even if it settled down so that was fun. Sprott-Harrison had a fantastic ending, and Rahman-Lawrence was an entertainingly rough and notably busy bout. What do you think?
I voted for Peter-McCline, but this poll just goes to show what a shitty year it was in terms of quality heavyweight fights.
We talking about best performance or best fight ??? Best fight was probably Peter/Mcline ... but best performance was probably Wlad/Brewster.
I was really tempted to stick in a none of the above option (probably call it "There were heavyweight fights this year?" or something)...but I was interested in seeing what was considered the best even of a bad lot.
Not even close to the highest level of competition, but Walker-Garcia might have been the most entertaining I saw in 2007.
Yea that list definitely puts this shitty HW year into perspective. :-( Thank God for the lower weights! :happy
Ya know I dont think Kevin Mcbride is very skilled, and Andrew Golota looked like he lost a step....but check that fight out because both guys are actively throwing bombs, and there is not much defense. great action from two big guys.
I was actually going to mention that this was probably as good as any other heavyweight fight the entire year. What a **** show! Luckily, it was a great year for boxing. Too bad the heavyweight division didn't join the show.
I couldn't make a pick. Voting for the best Heavyweight fight in 2007 is like choosing the hottest chick in the nursing home.
