Dirrell was greatly overrated going into the tournament, even before the first round of bouts.

I don't think it's that Froch was unmotivated so much as Dirrell was ridiculously contrary and petrified of him. The extent of Dirrell's success in that bout was overstated by some, anyway. There was no schooling or robbery, just a close fight that Dirrell had nobody but himself to blame for losing.
