    Mark Breland: The point about what was so good about Mark Breland’s jab, is that it hurt! You had to be careful.
    BEST DEFENSE
    Donald Curry: I think it depends on how you fight a guy. In my experience fighting Donald Curry, I think he was harder to hit than anyone else.
    FASTEST HANDS
    Michael Nunn: Michael’s speed was faster than I thought.
    FASTEST FEET
    Nunn: He moved pretty good. He was always looking to get out the way.
    BEST CHIN
    I really couldn’t answer that because anybody I hit right is going to go.
    SMARTEST
    Curry: He was a fighter that hunted you down. He wasn’t an easy fighter to fight.
    STRONGEST
    Jose Baret: He was 16-0, 15 knockouts, in ’83. He was strong.
    BEST PUNCHER
    Inocencio De La Rosa: To be honest with you, I couldn’t tell you the guy that really got my attention, when you talk about the name fighters. I fought a guy (Inocencio De la Rosa) who hit me with a shot and I thought I better hold on.

    Tommy (Hearns) hit me with a good shot in training and broke my jaw.
    BEST SKILLS
    Curry: He reminded me so much of me. He did nothing great but he did everything good.
    BEST OVERALL
    Curry: He did nothing great but everything good. His eyes, when you’ve got good eyes, you can see everything and that’s what makes you react to another fighter.

    He will likely never make the hall of fame but Marlon was one of the best defensive fighters ever. He was a very underrated fighter.

    Marlon was damned good, lived right up the road back in them days. In hindsight, should not have fought Curry the first time.

    Why is that, out of curiosity? I loved the fact two unbeaten contenders went at it like that. Refreshing change from what we see today.

    I was always a Magic Man fan. He was a very good fighter who always gave a great effort. I like that his answers seem to be honest.

    I didn’t. I was 14 years old and cheering for Marlon and he was winning handily until he got caught with that stupid punch as the bell had sounded.

    I don`t think he was as powerful as he`s suggesting but was thre really a fighter he couldn`t KO if he caught them flush? I`d say maybe Blocker and Nunn, Blocker was only knocked out by punchers like Brown and Norris both of whom punched far harder than Starling and there`s no way Starling had Toney`s punch.

    That's true, but Curry already had a shot lined up IIRC, and Marlon probably would have by mid-1983. No doubt in my he beats Hwang or Jones if he had to fight them.

    He sounds like a real pro. I had forgotten about this guy, now I am going to have to watch some of his fights again.

    Yeah Starling was a very good fighter but Curry had his number everytime. You could say Starling was unlucky to have to fight Curry when Curry was at his best.
