What Leonard did with him? What are you talking about? Leonard didn`t do all that much, he landed some good flurries but tired quickly due to his excessive movement.

Leonard still had fast feet by that stage.

"Didn't do all that much"? You have to go back to the time the fight was made. Most people gave Leonard no chance. Most had him KO'ed by at least the 7th round, and many didn't think he would put up any fight at all. Hagler was still seen as a brutalizer after the Hearns and Mugabi fights, and that he would eat Leonard alive. Many thought the fight was a sham and shouldn't have been made at all.

He is in the initial stages of grief, which is denial

intense anger goes along with it. this is what has happened to him

It's similar to when you have injured a fly and immediately begins buzzing uncontrollably, knowing his time is at an end

and that is why his post made no sense

though I sympathize with him, I can only go by objective methods over the emotional pleas that we expect from fans

    poppycock.

we dont even know who "most people" are

    who are "most people"?

You cant account for any of them

for all we know, you made up "most people"

This is just another reason why I have never trusted in word of certain fanatics. Leonard fans lack integrity

Hardcore Hagler fans still cannot accept that the poster boy Leonard beat the bad-ass, tough-guy Hagler. Had it been anyone else, the loss would not have stung so much. At the time we all wanted Hagler to knock out the cocky Leonard. Even I rooted for Hagler that night, but it didn't happen. I came to admire Leonard for doing what he did. All successful people get bashed if they are good at what they do, especially if they are a media darling like Leonard was.

In the newspapers at the time. In the magazines at the time. On TV shows at the time. Newspapers at the time all gave predictions and almost all picked Hagler by KO.

You know damn well what I mean. I can't stand talking with people like you. Make a point, then disregard everything I've said or try to evade every point I've made.

You mean the way you disregard the evidence given because you didnt like the results???

    how many were polled?

and out of that number, how many picked Hagler to win?

maybe they were thinking of a prime Hagler

you know that a lot of these writers are slow, many of them knowing little of boxing because they spread themselves thin covering other sports: baseball, football, basketball, golf, women's gymnastics, etc., etc.

they can write, but many of them dont have a feel for certain sports

all of this is meaningless since we know Leonard lost

Maybe but he certainly did land as much as Mugabi did v Hagler nor did he have the success Hearns had v Hagler in the 1st round of his fight v Hagler those two were real fights.

Marvin’s two previous fights, vs. Hearns and Mugabi, were also scheduled for 12 rounds.

Fifteen-rounders were on the way out by then. it’s not like this was the first 12-round title fight, nor even the first one for Marvin.

It’s only brought up as an issue because MMH lost, which makes it an excuse.

I don`t think he lost, but you make a good point about the Mugabi and Hearns fights, however Hagler would have won a 15 rounder.

You're not wrong, Duràn... actually had underrated speed too, that's why nobody gets it,most only looks his power but man, this is the same guy who matched Leonard's speed!

I think people do get it. He didn't match Leonard's speed he showed brilliant timing inside (where almost all the fight was fought at) and was more compact with his punches. Leonard's hands are undeniably faster but when Duran gets him inside that is negated because Ray loops his punches more than Duran in close.

Hagler didn't know where they were coming from because Duran had moves and timing Hagler had never before encountered. His hands were plenty quick too, being a natural ligthweight, but his superb timing accentuated that in no small way. His reflexes were terrific too.

I'd say the most well rounded of the 5 kings, but other than Benitez he's the laziest.
