    Floyd Mayweather Sr.: That defensive style rubbed off on his son

    Marcos Geraldo: He weighed in at 160 pounds (Leonard was 153).

    Roberto Duran: In the first fight, he hurt me a number of times.
    FASTEST HANDS
    Hearns: Tommy could be sitting on his stool and hit you from the other corner.
    BEST FOOTWORK
    Hearns: I don’t remember anyone being superior to me with their feet, but Tommy used his feet in our first fight.
    SMARTEST
    Duran: A smart man. He was elusive, he had good handspeed, he broke you down.
    STRONGEST
    Marvelous Marvin Hagler: He was ambidextrous and could knock you out with either hand.
    BEST OVERALL
    Hearns: It was Tommy. I don’t think anything matches our first fight.

    What's surprising is he said May Sr. had a better defense than
    everyone he's faced. That includes Benitez.

    Even much primitive version of Mayweather gave issues to Leonard. Leonard would KO FMJ according to delusional fans lmao.

    Seems like an ego stroke. In multiple interviews, he loved mentioning how great Mayweather's defense was and then following it up by chuckling about how he knocked him out anyway.

    Senior's great defense didn't do him much good. OTOH I will concede his son was infinitely better.

    Mayweather jr and Leonard have perhaps the most heated rivalry between two guys that were from completely different eras. They had some similarities, both being athletic cautious fighters whose best assets were speed and both had charming smiles. A build up between the two of them would have been incredible.
