Yeah, took my by surprise. I got the feeling there was a resentment there. He said he won fights because he was bigger than his opponents and stronger but not because he was skilled. He straight up said “horrible” and pulled a face when describing Sanchez’s skills.

 

Carlos Zarate Was probably p4p one of the best punchers of all time. Won about 63 of 66 wins by KO. That’s an unbelievable percentage and especially for a featherweight.

Absolutely. I've raved about Zarate from when i first arrived here. Great puncher for sure Goo.

 

Logically it should be based on his experience fighting him.

 

FFS Kinda think "Best I Faced" is about being in the ring with a man rather than how you might have admired their skills from outside the ropes in their prime....

 

I really like these Ring Magazine best of interviews. Although some are self serving at times, they are good.

Which brings me to the future of their best of, and thiner resumes we see today.

For Example what would Fury say if his career ended today?

 

Not necessarily. You ask a basketball player who played against Michael Jordan on an off night who the best player he ever played against was and he might rightfully tell say it was Jordan. And he would be correct in doing so.

The question isn’t ‘who gave you the best fight?’

 

Exactly. This is why you have to always parse what one athlete says of his contemporary.

 

More than likely, the next time he probably got torched by Jordan. Zarate didn't get a second chance.

He truly faced some of the best! And was one himself.

 

I’m going to visit Gomez next month and present an extraordinary gift to him which I’ll make sure to share on this forum.

I can attempt to ask him some questions some of you may have although he might struggle with answers. I saw him a few months ago and while he’s lost weight he appears fragile.

 

Fighters seem to do that quite often. Looking back they will rate the guy they beat much higher than guys they lost to.
