A thread that has no relevance to Liston and yet here you are creating an argument about Liston ? I think the only one who goes crazy when Liston is mentioned is you and judging by this thread he doesn't even have to be mentioned to set you off.

 

I'm not, I'm saying that Bugner sparred with Liston just like Foreman yet both stated Lyle is the strongest, not Liston, not Shavers and not Frazier.

Bugner was a solid fighter could have snagged a belt in the alphabet era. Interesting he gave Frazier best chin when some detractors say Frazier was chinny because of the Foreman fights. Frazier could have finished him off in their fight but he refrained from doing so, it was close either way.

 

Interesting, I haven't heard about that. Lyle probably hit harder than Liston, but Liston was generally the better boxer, with a stronger jab.

 

That was a great read. I always love fighters recalling the things Ali said to them in the ring.

As to Ali doing outlandish stuff to sell fights, I think most guys who fought him understood they were getting paid what they were because of his behavior. Ken Norton said he'd kind of sit back and laugh when Ali started going off, thinking of all the money he was about to earn because of Ali's antics.

 

True, that's why Liston was the champion while Lyle was just contender, Liston was much better boxer than Lyle, he was not crude slugger but complete boxer...but even complete boxers lack something that makes them lose.

Very interesting read, but I completely disagree with Bugner on Frazier fight. Bugner somehow thinks he edged it. I think Frazier won cleanly 9 rounds out of 10. No way it was as close as official score

 

It's kind of like how Kamikaze is obsessed with randomly bringing up Foreman or Dinovelevet being drawn to Klitschko threads like a vulture to a carcass.

 

this kind of thing happens on any forum/subreddit involving sports. Just a nature of fandom. There’s probably some subreddit for billiards and dudes who can’t stop mentioning certain billiard players.
