Ali's jab was combined with body movement laterally as well as in and out so an added dimension not found in Liston. So not only was Ali's jab quicker (quicker than SRR jab by the way) it was thrown at multiple angles. A very difficult punch to defend against as it was not predictable. No jab at hwt compares to Ali's jab in actuality. Study up!
Perry you're on my ignore list, so stop trying to respond to me. You just make yourself look (even more) stupid.
Tyson had a great jab. This list favors taller fighters' jabs but Tysons jab allowed him to get on the inside of everyone.
:good Tyson used to throw his jab at the same time as he slipped his head to his right.it was a great move and combined with his underrated feet work, it set his power punches up
Study up Perry? Many here watched Ali, Liston, the Rock and other live and have half a century and more studying a sport your pretty new too, how do I know, your arrogance, something veteran boxing people aren't prone too, especially those who were boxers themselves. Can it kid.
yes for sure, in ways I think that a few others had comparable or even better jabs BUT then in some ways Ali was the best, its certainly a fair argument :good
He is in the frame but I think I'll go for Holmes. Liston's jab was so heavy it often pushed his opponents back out of range of a follow up. Foreman said he had the same problem and that he had to learn to throw softer jabs. which broke his heart , but paid off against Moorer.
I didn't think they even had jabs in the old days. They had straight left leads. Traditionally a hard and long punch. A jab is shorter punch generally, so it can be thrown in a series of two or three at a time if need be. There's nothing in Ali's jab that resembles a classic fencing lead, as far as I can tell. But I might be wrong of course.
I like Holmes, Liston and Ali. Listons and Ali's are awkward to compare because tey are such different jabs. You could almost say they are at opposite ends of the scale. Somewhere in between them Homes would sit. I don't mind the Lewis and Louis jabs either.
