Is everyone going to pick Benny LEonard for that number 1 spot ?

Abe Attell, Maxie Rosenbloom.... who else ?

Btw, it doesnt need to be american, but I figure that that's where the jewish fighters were the most sucessful for some reason...

    Any honorable mentions are welcome.

Dana "The Dangerous Jew" Rosenblatt deserves a minor mention.

    Does Zab Judah count?

It's tight between Leonard and Ross imo. Ross could feasibly sneak into an all time top ten and I feel that the lower half of a top ten is where Leonard almost definitely belongs. I'd rate Leonard a shade higher, probably. Maybe a couple of places or so.

I'm probably forgetting someone, but off the top of my head, my top 10 would be something like:

    1. Benny Leonard
    2. Barney Ross
    3. Abe Atell
    4. Ted Kid Lewis
    5. Jack Kid Berg
    6. Jackie Fields
    7. Maxie Rosenbloom
    8. Benny Yanger
    9. Joe Choynski
    10. Battling Levinksy

HM's for Max Baer, Louis Kaplan & Phil *********.

Benny Leonard seems like the best choice but my knowledge on the subject is limited

OK, folks, Max Baer's mom was Scottish, not Jewish. Thus, he was not Jewish. He was raised Catholic per his mother's religion.

He proclaimed himself to be a Jew and his dad’s side was Jewish.

Benny Leonard is like a god in the Jewish community and I do not see that changing. Barney Ross is a very close second.
Dana Rosenblat believe it or not is highly regarded.
Abe Atell was Jewish. Jackie Fields was as well but you never really hear anything about those two.
Mike Rossman never gets mentioned but he was Jewish as well. I think his personality turned alot of people off- not the nicest of people outside the ring.
