Neither story concerning Lampley is what happened.

After the initial riot calmed down enough for them to move, Lampley went up to the second level of the arena to give more commentary. In his closing statements before the broadcast ended, he simply said that he was worried about his daughter having been down there. Anyone that thinks he just left his daughter like that is an idiot. I'm sure she was whisked away to safety as soon as it became obvious that it was going to be bad.

 

I just realized that the famous Lampley quote, "What a great show, what a great, great fight" said at the introduction of HBO Boxing was said in the Hopkins/Tito fight in the 10th round.

Also don't know if this is the first time he said this, but in the same fight, he said his famous quote, "Hopkins, imposing his will and his skill....".

Lampley seemed to be at his peak calling fights in that one.
