While I acknowlendge that there may be some advantage in the pants, Aoki has still been able to dominate some good opposition like Kawajiri, better than even Melendez did, without the pants. A much more important factor than friction in grappling is the environment, and Aoki had problems adapting to that. I guess not having his lucky pants did not help, but exceptions should not be made for him.
That reminds me, Arona is another great jiu jitsu for mma fighter. He'd be a beast in the UFC with scoring for control
Quite so, quite so Hitchhiking for example... This content is protected Would you give a ride to this man? :think
Whats the criteria? Is it who has the best BJJ who currently fights in MMA or is it who has the best MMA jiu jitsu?
Well these were the three that were brought up in another thread. And to stop Beekeeper ruining another thread with his Aoki man love(see above post) , I created this one, and its an interesting question too
I think it should be base on MMA performance, simply because many fighters stop doing BJJ competitions after going fulltime with MMA, but in this case they are still able to show that they are top class grapplers in their MMA fighting, For me, Roger Gracie is still not really commited to MMA, though he could make an impact if he commited
Thats like saying , who is the better schooled boxer , but forget amateur pedigree just focus on the pro ranks .................. , Aoki has a grappling style in MMA that is pretty unique , and for all intents and purposes the guy is a grappler , however , there are accomplished grapplers in the sport of MMA that really make Aoki look like a nobody , that is what the majority of people on here are trying to say , the guy is talented yes , but there are levels of JJ , and Aoki's level of JJ is significantly lower than some of the JJ fighters mentioned in this thread .
Well you can base it on grappling competitions 5 years ago where Aoki was facing more experienced and much bigger guys, or you can base it on what Aoki has done in the ring since then, that's the difference, And to say Aoki is a nobody in JJ based on this is ridiculous
So you cant judge the better Ju Jitsu based on how they performed in JJ competitions .And I guess those guys would not have improved in 5 years whilst Aoki is proving how great he is by beating Clementi Right, got ya ....
