I did not say that JJ competitions deserve not attention, I am saying that this happened a long time ago, and in Aoki's case (not talking about anyone else) he has clearly progressed his JJ significantly over the years, I don't get why you bring up Clementi, he was not the strongest opponent sure, but had a decent BJJ background. Aoki did what champions do, controlled the whole fight and finished it decicively. Do not pretend that Maia or Jacare do not face their share of class-below opponents.
Im not, Im basing Jacare and Maia on the merits of submitting these 'low par' opposition and their habits of winning top class BJJ tournaments. Can you say the same?
Nope, you have the right to do that, But you cannot say Aoki would be any worse if he continued in these tournaments instead of going FT MMA, He did with the Japan tourney for his weightclass in his younger years, but then again, if he went to MMA and showed a so-so apptitude for submitting opponents, that would not mean so much BTW, who did you vote for Jacare or Maia? And why one over the other?
