I know I said my goodbyes, but I do want to at least respond to your post.
I agree that the invasion of Iraq may very well had some religious motivation. I said it wasn't religion, but Bush may have had that in mind too. I think it was more to do with oil, personally. I find it funny that the U.S. wasn't actually fighting in the Middle East unless we had a Bush in office. They were both oil men, so it is easy to draw that conclusion. And yes, the U.S. always unfairly sides with Israel, another country with Nuclear arms. How contradictory.:patsch So we agree on most of this.

Well, you probably wouldn't want to live there. Yes, the rules in these countries are more along the lines of Islam, though these governments still don't strickly follow the Sharia. A lot of the laws there are based on Islam. Again, not all. And, again, the goverments don't strickly follow these rules, always.

That's another thing. Even us Muslims have to be very careful who we read from. Just because some guy is a professor, doesn't mean he is knowledgable on our religion. Some scholars, like Sheikh Qaradawi, claim that suicide bombings are permissible. We know that this is completely wrong. MANY other scholars refute this. So, we have to be very careful who we read from. Men and women have different places in life. We were created different. Women can carry babies, men can't. See what I mean? But, as far as rights go, men and women are equal. We both have rules that we must follow.

That's another thing that are misinformed about. We don't date in Islam. You go to the family and court and get to know one another, but not completely alone. The family keeps a safe distance. This doesn't belong in the 21st century? What, being chaste, no sex before marriage? Have you ever heard of STD's? Wouldn't you want your daughter protected from these things? Wouldn't you respect a young man you comes to you and asks for your family's permission to talk to your daughter. And don't get the wrong impression again. The father doesn't force his daughter to marry anyone. Only the person who is getting married can make that decision. No forced marriages. These types of arranged marriages do take place in some nations, but this is against our religion. The woman and man must agree to be married.

I didn't say that you should resort to violence. I am not defending the actions of some Muslims. I am just saying that you are misinformed about a lot of aspects of our religion and a lot of the behavior that you attribute to it, isn't a part of it at all. The whole reason I mentioned McVea, was because it is easy for people to overlook him as a nutjob, but when a Muslim isn't acting according to our religion, a lot of people blame the religion. I am not saying that you are one of them. I was more or less making a general point.

I am not trying to label you as anti-Islam. I am only trying to make a point that our religion is not bad. Some Muslims may do a lot of bad, but it isn't our religion. Anyway, we can agree to disagree on a lot of things, but I am happy that we seem to have come to decent understanding. I know you have left already, so you may not read this. I, too, am now leaving. I am not posting on this thread anymore. I think anyone with an open mind who disagrees with me can take all of my posts and put them together and see the point that I have been trying to make. This is it for me guys. So, Assalamu alaikum to my Muslims brothers, and have a wonderful day to all of you people of many different faiths. We all have one thing in common...
We love the sweet science. Peace guys.:thumbsup

What was sort of funny to me was that Lampley was so over-the-top and excited that after he said Allah knows how to spell Barrera, he actually spelled it out. Lampley's man-crush on Barrera was cringe-worthy at times.

"No offense to you Roy, but Marco Antonio Barrera is the smartest boxer I have ever met"

Lampley always does his imaginary conversation because he said it with so much emotion during Barrera-Hamed.

"Barrera looks at Hamed as if to say, come on! COME ON!!!!!!"

it was just in bad taste as you say, lamps is a bit thick and people shouldn't see the need to make a fuss over it. A tv personality shouldn't be making comments like that but as we all agreed it wasn't malicious we can just forget it imo :good

if the world could understand that and generalise to all religious situations everything would be a whole lot easier. As for the topic i think the whole commentary on barrea-hamed was hilarious while the pac-clottey one was slightly arse-licky

I thought he was a fool as well. But being a commentator isnt easy You need to talk a lot so logically you will mess up some times, but the guy has a good voice and clearly likes boxing.
Him and jones jr are the only 2 from hbo that I think are suitable for the job.

Imagine Jim Lampley as a war correspondent.

You guy need to remember the Allah comment was made prior to 9/11 so people werent so sensitive about these issues. If it were made now it would have been more contraversial. It was right of Foreman to show Lampley some etiquette.

Just because Hamed was prancing and showing off his faith doesnt mean you have to make a sweeping remark towards all upholders of that faith. With that being said, what Lampley did say wasnt really insultive to but it was ******ed and unnecessary..

    Im muslim btw as well..

It was a bit tasteless, but if anyone thinks it was Lampley intentionally insulting all Muslims rather than having a joke about how much of a fanny Naz acted in the run up to the fight they are ******ed.
