Best lateral movers??

I'm just here to stick up for Chavez. You'd think he had diamond shoes on the way he dazzled 'em with his steppers.

 

Ali pre 67 was the master.

 

Benn ,tyson,and sweet pea.

 

Floyd in recent years.

RJJ, while not textbook, was darn effective.

Camacho and Taylor in the 80's.

 

That's probably the best recent example. People keep harping on how Hopkins avoided the right by constantly moving away from it. That's not even close to the full story, and something that simple would not succeed the way Hopkins did. Many times Kelly anticipated the movement, and stepped quickly to his own left trying to make BHop run into one of those long left hooks. Hops didn't bite. Instead he just switched directions and slid away to Kelly's right. I had to watch the fight a couple times to really see that, but it was amazing.

Why are people saying Tyson? He never used lateral movement at all. Moving your head sideways is not what lateral movement means.

That isn't true at all. He has some of the best footspeed and in and out movement of modern times.
