His resume is better than Taylors but in a HTH matchup Taylor was better at his best he was an elite top PFP guy, in fact when he fought Chavez they were both considered the best PFP guys. Pintor was considered a top guy and even top 10 pfp(in a HOT era) but never the best in boxing.

    Yey thanks!
Some people forget how great Taylor was at that time, he doesnt have the flashy resume but in his prime hed be hell for any great fighter. Fastest hands ive ever seen, Does anybody remember the way he dominated A great fighter like Buddy Mcgirt?

^ Same with Rosario...His overall career wasn't the best one out there, but at the time he went against Chavez, Chapo was an extremely dangerous dude with crazy KO power, and he was the heavy favorite to win that bout. And Chavez came up to Chapo's weight, and viciously dismantled him, taking his best shots like they were nothing.

Wasn't he ranked #1 at 135 at that time?

Yes he was cause many thought his fight with a prime Camacho(who had just moved up toJW) was controversial and he was coming off a Blowout over Bramble who was ranked #3 Pfp at the time and was thought of as having one of the best chins in boxing. Ramirez had just lost decisvely to Camacho. So yey knocking out Bramble put him as the top man at 135.

Taylor better than Pintor at his best? I don't think so. Taylor had blazing handspeed and was a great combination puncher but he wasn't the overall fighter that Pintor was at his peak. Pintor could do it all.

Taylor was never tested like Lupe and when it came down to it he failed against the very best while Pintor at times shined.

Gomez resmue at 122>Chavez at any weight

Chavez fought a handful of top fighters. Arguello fought about twice as many top fighters.

I said Chavez built the majority of his early carrer fighting cab drivers. He did but I know it was because he didn't have an extensive amateur background. That is why the 100 wins of his aren't as impressive to me as the 80+ of Arguello and Monzon.

About the title fight records of Gomez and Chavez. Chavez never fought anyone moving up in weight as great as Sanchez or Nelson. Ever

    1. Arguello
    2. Chavez
    3. Gomez

All 3 are very close in my book though. Gomez is well above #50 on my list.

Taylor had awesome handspeed, but the Philly fighter mentality was his downfall. He relied too much on his speed rather than sound technique and ring savvy, which is what did him in against Chavez and rendered him mostly ineffective at the higher weights (though he did hold a good win over Superman Davis). He would've been a handful for a good many fighters at 140, but he fell short of being a great fighter, even in theory, in my opinion because he lacked the depth of mind that a great fighter has.

I stand corrected and like Gomez when he fought Sanchez and Nelson he lost. 117-111 Whitaker the last time I scored it

Look im often told that im biased fan that i overrate then Mexicans, so believe me when i tell you Taylor was more gifted than Pintor, and in HTH matchup more difficult to fight. Do you remember that when Taylor fought Chavez he was considered the #2 man in the sport? Where you a fan when Pintor was fighting? If so you will know that Pintor was highly regarded but never mentioned as one of the best PFP.
You could argue that Gomez resume MIGHT have been better at 122 than CHavez at any weight but Chavez still makes an argument at 140 and then add 130 and 135 into it and Chavez clearly had the better overall resume.

Yey but you forgot the whole major Point Gomez was whupped in both fights you could even say dominated. His biggest wins were against guys moving up. Dont make pull out 2 long list comparing these two. Ive done it too many times:patsch And usually i win these debates, since the comebacks are usually weak. Also dont act like Monzon and Arguello fought top notch competition there entire carreer. Chavez still had atleast as many fights against top notch opposition, you cant even compare Monzons amount of title fights to Chavezs. Monzon had a great title reigh but still 14 title fights isnt like Chavez 30+
