Unprofessional comments like this are why I'm glad HBO is showing this decrepit old man the door. It takes him 5 minutes to spit out one sentence and he's steadily becoming more and more senile.

However, Merchant is a journalist and colour commentator. This means he has freedom to ask probing questions and make comments based on his 40+ years of experience.

He has forgotten more about boxing than 99.9% of this board will ever know.

Floyd was charged with hitting women. This was after he mercilessly baited Corrales around the time of their fight for the exact same thing.

Really when you throw as much mouth around as Floyd - Or ANY fighter for that matter - How can you not expect to be called out on it once and a while.

The thing about Larry that amuses me is how drunk he sounds in some broadcasts. Now that's not a real pro way of dealing with it, but it sure makes for some interesting analysis....

 

To be perfectly honest, I was disgusted when Floyd brought up Corrales' domestic abuse problems. Trash talk should not include people's family members. In addition, domestic violence is a serious issue. It shouldn't be taken lightly.

I think this is the sort of thin Hatton was reffering too when he compared Floyd to Ali and siad that Ali used to say it with a twinkle in his eye.

I'm all for promoting a fight, but not at the expense of families and that sort of stuff.

You watch the old fight tapes and the same day weigh ins and most of the time its smiles, hand shaking and well wishes - Then they nearly tear one another to pieces - You can be a gentleman and a credit to the sport rather than trying to mimic 1989 NWA...
