As a child, one of the first fights I watched was Larry Holmes vs. Michael Spinks 1.
I remember Larry Holmes having a chance to equal Rocky Marciano's record (49-0), but he failed.
As a child, I also felt sorry for Larry Holmes.

As i have mentioned previously Spinks beating Ali, a real life Rocky moment indeed to a teen KernowWarrior.

Neon Leon grabbed his chance and won, of course for one night only, but he beat the man who beat the man, and his name will forever be etched in annals of boxing history.

1978 was a good year for me, thinking of the Spinks win triggers those good time memories.

Do we get a lot of non-boxing fans posting on a boxing forum?

I mean, I'm not a soccer fan, and as such, you don't see me posting on soccer forums. Even though I do have one pretty humorous memory about the world cup.

Sat ringside as a kid with my Father as Ray Mercer took Tommy Morrisons head off with a fifteen punch barrage.

Great night out that up in Manchester I'd been preaching on this site for months that Joe would school him but I didn't think after 3 rounds we would be giving Joe the old Big Daddy wrestling chant of " Easy Easy Easy " to help him on his way ,
another was when MASSIVE underdog Lloyd Honeygan whooped a serious fella by the name of Don Curry . Great memories

Training. I still miss training so much, after 20 years. I love training, it gave peace to my soul.

Ohhhh, yes. A huge swath of the forum are fans of certain fighters and are clearly not fans of the sport in general. Nationalistic fighter fans, cultural fighter fans, I-met-him-once fighter fans, I-called-it fighter fans, who criticize any non-star fighter on an "enemy" star fighter's resume as garbage without realizing that it discounts the abilities and efforts of roughly 98%-99% of the entirety of the sport because they're complete morons who don't have any attachment to the actual sport at all and therefore don't even need to appreciate the majority of its practitioners. They're like pop culture hoes, and if you show them somebody like Micky Ward before the movie, they won't even appreciate his left hook to the body, and if you show them Omar Narvaez's moves, they're like "Dude stepped up twice and got stopped both times." because they Boxrec'd him for people they recognise and that is their opinion because they don't even know what they're watching...because they don't actually care about boxing. It's a cycle. It's not good. I didn't take a single breath while typing that. I am blue in the face, right now. I AM OUTRRRRRAGED! Good day, sir! I say good day!
