for me it was when the American commentator said the words " Vito Cavileri looks into the eyes of Jean Marc Mormeck, and we have a brand new WBA, WBC Cruiserweight Champion of the world his name is David Haye" That commentator was awsome!
Calzaghe absorbing THAT uppercut from Kessler, staggering back momentarilly before launching an attack of his own. I genuinely expected Calzaghe to fall on his arse and stay down when it connected (as in 'He's gone Jim!') but he regained his composure extremely quickly and launched straight into an attack of his own. Awsome stuff.
For me was when John Simpson sent Andy Morris right through the ropes few rounds before finishing him off. Morris had been slagging off john all year so was rather sweet seeing Morris not knowin if it was new york or new year by the time he came back round!!!
Duke saying "He's gone, Jim!" It just never gets old...I love it. Duke and Foreman in a commentary booth would be gold. In-ring wise, yeah, I jumped out of my seat when Haye thumped Mormeck. Great moment. But most of all, it would have to be Sprott knocking out Audley. Never expected Sprott to have that kind of punch on him, and Audley was utterly out cold. KTFO gets thrown around a lot, and usually inaccurately, but that was the very definition.
If the thread had been 'Best Comedy Moment of 2007' that night would have got my vote. A-Force was sound asleep in the middle of the ring. He was still adamant that he would World Champion within the year afterwards.
'and he fell like a big oak tree' Hnery Cooper commenting on the replay of Fraudley getting smoked by Sprott. and the look on Amir Khan's dad's face ringside as Fraud went down. His son is the next phony to fall.
Billy Smith winning the Midland Area title twice. Calzaghe and Haye proving they are the number one men in their divisions within a week of each other.
Heh, nice bonus! He also maintained that he was King of the Potato People and the ruler of Neptune, didn't he?
Calzaghe beating Kessler for me. I enjoyed PBF giving Hatton a boxing lesson too even though I wanted Hatton to win though. I just enjoyed his display of skill and that genuis left hook.
Pavlik chinning Taylor was probably my fav moment not because I dislike Taylor just coz it was a real suprise and was for THE title.
Best moment I'd probably say Haye knocking out Mormeck but I watched that at home and someone came to the door at the exact moment the KO happened, so that diffused most of the exitement from the situation for me. But best all-round thing, Hatton-Mayweather... it was amazing. :happy The build up, 24/7's, weigh in... fight... post fight. I loved the whole thing. I'd say the best all round boxing event for me ever.
